The Bush House is Open for Lodging! Perfect Mountain Retreat for Your Next Relaxing Getaway!

The 1898 Bush House Inn is a treasured place for many people throughout the Seattle area and beyond. Whether drawn to its historic roots as the last surviving hotel of the original five that served laborers during the turn-of-the-century boom days of mining, logging, and railroad-building, or from a personal connection to one of the many families who have called this mountain community home, the popularity of the Bush House is undeniable. From first jobs and first dates, to weddings and anniversaries, many special events have been held here. Some lucky folks just “happen” upon the Bush House as they side-step off the main roads on their journey over Stevens Pass in search of a restroom, restaurant, or place to stretch their legs. Located squarely in the middle of one of Washington’s smallest communities, the Bush House Inn can be your go-to for a family reunion, girls getaway, writers retreat, corporate meeting, fundraiser event, musical performance, art show, rehearsal dinner, honeymoon, book club, community dance, and more! The Town of Index is a unique Washington attraction with a population of less than 200 but boasts its own school district, General Store, Museum, Outdoor Adventure Center, Post Office, Park and Fire Department (all located on the same block) and while it’s footprint is small, it has some of the biggest views around! In fact, each of the 10 guest rooms at the Bush House features an unforgettable mountain view! The recent renovations have revived the buildings’ best features while retaining the character of the old; new windows that mimic the original sizes and locations, refinished hardwood floors in the guest rooms, repairs to the woodworking and freshly painted walls, updated and expanded bathrooms, new carpeting, a new hardwood dance floor, and so much more!

Hidden among the trees about a mile off of Stevens Pass Highway 2, just one hour from Seattle (west) or Leavenworth (east), the Bush House is a desirable destination for travelers and Seattleites alike, all seeking a peaceful setting and unlimited opportunities to explore, relax, or both! For those who desire a little adventure, you can rock climb or hike in the morning, then enjoy an afternoon hike or go fishing at the Skykomish River in the afternoon… all without starting your car. If relaxation is your goal, you’ll enjoy a friendly stroll around town, a restful visit to one of the Index memorial benches (with a riverfront view, of course!) a tour of the Pickett Museum, or dipping your toes in the river at Pickett’s beach… again, leave the keys in your room as all of these activities are within walking distance. If you’re not sure which hiking trail, paddling adventure, or bench is most suitable for you, be sure to ask the friendly Bush House front desk staff who can provide you with insider info, the wifi password, or a stamp for you to mail that vintage postcard or piece of local artwork you picked up… choose the Bush House Inn for your next getaway, and you too may feel drawn to this place that has connected with so many others before you.
